Analyzing Characteristics of Particulate Matter Pollution in Open-Pit Coal Mines: Implications for Green Mining

نویسندگان

چکیده

The particulate pollution in the open-pit coal mines of China is particularly severe winter. aim this study to understand characteristics matter (PM) winter and provide a basis for prevention control pollution. We took problem PM concentration at bottom Haerwusu Open-pit Coal Mine (HOCM) as research object. Dust monitoring equipment two measurement points different heights were positioned continuous concentration. data three months gathered. Statistical analyses performed analyze variation its relationship with meteorological factors. results show that average area below daily limit National Ambient Air Quality Standard (GB 3095-2012). However, PM10 exceeded national December. order observed December > January February. correlation found be positive humidity negative wind speed. Temperature positively correlated December, while it January. At same time, temperature difference negatively Under combined action multiple factors, magnitude impact on pit speed (inverse intensity). In conclusion, PM2.5 more sensitive environmental are useful progress green mining.

Effect of ventilation air velocities on diesel particulate matter dispersion in underground coal mines

This paper presents a detailed account of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations undertaken to investigate the influence of intake (ventilation) air velocities on the flow patterns of diesel particulate matter (DPM) generated by a man-riding vehicle operating in a straight rectangular cross section tunnel in an underground coal mine. The simulation results are validated against an earli...

Development of a goal programming model for optimization of truck allocation in open pit mines

Truck and shovel operations comprise approximately 60% of the total operating costs in open pit mines. In order to increase productivity and reduce the cost of mining operations, it is essential to manage the equipment used with high efficiency. In this work, the chance-constrained goal programing (CCGP) model presented by Michalakopoulos and Panagiotou is developed to determine an optimal truc...

A quantitative model for evaluation and classification of blastings in open-pit mines

By evaluation of the blasting results, a proper blast pattern can be presented. It is, therefore, essential to employ a reliable method to evaluate blastings for the effective control and optimization of the main cycle operations. This paper aims to propose a criterion for evaluating the blasting results such as the fragmentation, muckpile condition, back-break, and fly rock, and to make a poss...

Determination of the largest pit with the non-negative net profit in the open pit mines

The determination of the Ultimate Pit Limit (UPL) is the first step in the open pit mine planning process. In this stage that parts of the mineral deposit that are economic to mine are determined. There are several mathematical, heuristic and meta-heuristic algorithms to determine UPL. The optimization criterion in these algorithms is maximization of the total profit whilst satisfying...

An Approach to Locate an in Pit Crusher in Open Pit Mines

Transportation costs are a significant part of capital and operating costs of large open pit mines. Cost efficiency and high reliability of in pit crushing and conveying systems compared to conventional truck-shovel system makes it more appealing to be utilized in modern mining activities. In this paper the suitable location of an in pit crusher is investigated as a single hub location problem....
